Centre Manager – Permanent position

The Black Swan Guild Ltd., (Black Swan Arts) is a charity and company limited by guarantee set up in 1986. Its aim is to promote excellence and encourage an appreciation of contemporary arts and crafts through its programme of exhibitions and education.
Job outline
- The Centre Manager role is fundamental to the success of Black Swan Arts
- They are responsible for administration of the building and the office
- They maintain constructive and positive relationships with tenants, contractors and stakeholders
- They organise and oversee the promotion of the activities of Black Swan Arts to the public
- They are accountable to the Board of Trustees
Background and skills of successful applicant
- Current/recent experience of arts centre management
- Experience of working in the charity sector
- Experience of buildings and facilities management and maintenance systems
- The ability to manage budgets and complex administration
- Self-motivated, self-starter able to operate independently and work alone for much of the time
- Excellent partnering and collaborative working skills
- The ability to drive improvement and change as necessary
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- The ability to prioritise, deliver in a time-pressured environment with sound decision-making skills
- Strong IT, verbal and written skills
- Confident, adaptable with a desire to problem solve
- The ability to carry a heavy workload, to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Willingness and confidence to seek advice/support from trustees when necessary
- Knowledge of, and enthusiasm for the visual arts and crafts
Terms and Conditions
- This is a permanent post.
- The salary is based on £ 25,480, pro-rata for 25 hours a week.
- This post is initially offered on the basis of 25 hours per week to be worked to an agreed pattern.
- Due to the nature of the role some of the hours worked will be in the evening and at weekends. No overtime will be paid for additional hours, but informal time off in lieu will be allowed.
- There will be a notice period of 2 weeks on either side.
- Holiday entitlement is based on 5.6 weeks a year (including all bank/statutory holidays) calculated on a pro rata basis.
