Title: Back to Blue
Date: 23 June – 15 July
Carolyn Griffiths’ exhibition in the iconic Round Tower Gallery. The Round Tower building is an ideal location with its history as an 18th-century wool drying building. ‘Back to Blue’ showcases the history of Frome’s cloth and dye trades and weaves its way towards the relevance of textile production in today’s society.
Hans Borgonjon and Sue Conrad’s mixed media pieces provide a wonderful contemporary twist which ebbs and flows between the past and the present. Supported by Black Swan Arts, Frome Society for Local Study and Creative Frome.
Workshops include:
- A Colourful Past, inviting participants to play with natural dyes from food waste
- Children’s Sessions
- Tied to the Loom, a taste of backstrap weaving
- Floor loom demonstrations, with an opportunity to have a go at making cloth
