Sue Conrad Ma – Artist & Benefactor
Sue initially studied Constructed Textiles at Goldsmiths, and later went on to complete a Masters in Multidisciplinary Print Making at the University of the West of England. For many years Sue taught Art and Design in various schools and further education colleges in Glasgow, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Through her own artwork Sue continuously experiments with surface, texture, line and form to build layers of meaning. These works reveal themes of distance, decay and solitude and man’s relationship to the natural world. One does not merely look at her paintings, one voyages through them.
Living and working in Frome, Sue has been involved with the Black Swan for many years. In 2007 she partnered with the Black Swan to mount a one-woman show called, End Notes. She is delighted to be able to support emerging artists through the Sue Conrad Prize for Works on Paper.
