List of makers

Runa Ayres

I learnt the art of macramé in South America. I love the way it blends traditional handicraft skills with more modern forms of expression. I went back to creating macramé jewellery after my children were born as I could pick up a piece and work on it when and where, without the need for dedicated time and space.

My inspiration comes from the stones that I work with and my Peruvian, pre-Columbian heritage.

Louise Boulter

Since having children drawing and illustrating while also bringing up the children has become the norm. It has become second nature to illustrate fast and energetically in short bursts to create works before ‘nap-time’ is over. All works for sale here have been made in this way.

Lizzy Bridges

Narrative and nostalgia has played an important part in my work. I’m intrigued by how curtain images hold a lot of cultural value and inform how we perceive our reality.

My paintings regularly detail architectural structures and interior spaces independent of the people who inhabit them.

Yui Church

My name is Yui and I enjoy doing Japanese calligraphy.

There is no limit in it, nor the end, I learn and create something new every time I do it, just like a journey full of emotions in life

Jenna Doodles

I’m an artist and illustrator based in Frome. I love to draw from nature: leaves, flowers, trees, insects, animals and the human body. I studied anatomy under the incredible tutor / artist / author / botanist Sarah Simblet, which might account for my interest in the architectural structure of all things natural.

I have 2 young kids (3 & 7yrs), and since having them I’ve illustrated three children’s books (the most recent is ‘We Are Family’ – launched in Feb 2022). I do think that – although I’m the most tired I’ve ever been! – becoming a mother has creatively inspired me in many ways… I’m inspired by the way my kids explore the world around them, their natural inquisitiveness and constant enthusiasm – and the random funny things they say. They’ve also reminded me of long-forgotten memories from my own childhood.

Tamsyn Gill

I am a Cornish maid who has been living in Frome for the last 5 years, and I’ve been working as a freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator for more than 10 years.

I really love the strange quirks and charms of European architecture, and am greatly inspired by the higgledy-piggeldy streets and buildings of Frome. Every one of my pieces features a bit of the town, and my home county Cornwall.

Finishing up a ‘Little Houses’ piece feels nigh on impossible sometimes- I am so absorbed by it I can hardly bring myself to put down my pen, just thinking- another tiny letterbox here, or a cat on a roof there!

How many houses can you count?

Hannah Johnston

Hello, I’m Hannah. I live in Frome with my husband and three boys. When I’m not being a busy Mum I work from home designing and creating bold and colourful statement jewellery and accessories, mostly with Polymer Clay. I love its versatility to work with, mixing colour and experimenting with texture and materials.

Sophie Mason

I am a gardener and an artist exploring different ways of relating to the landscape. My recent work has grown from the changes that come with being a mum. I can make them to the rhythms of a child and they are made from a space of play and exploration in the woods or my studio. Now my daughter has started school my work is changing slightly. I am excited to see what comes next!

Claire Orpin

At Green Sea Threads I create consciously hand-crafted slow-fashion limited editions and unique pieces for babies and children. I source all of my fabric second hand. From people destashing fabric they have bought but not used, clothes and any other usable fabric that I find along the way.

Anna Parkinson-Bates

I am an established women’s accessory designer with a passion for Japanese textiles. I wanted to showcase these beautiful fabrics by creating unique wearable accessories made from vintage kimono jacquards and printed silk.

Ali Pitman

The Little Splash Shop was founded by Ali.

I opened My Etsy shop in September 2020 when both of my children were in full time education. I have a passion for art and colour,  which has led me to design and create colourful, fun homeware items that are original and unique

I love discovering old, one off items, which I then recycle to make new again! I use spray paints and acrylics to bring life to each item I make

Elanor Steel

I have always had fun with clay and started selling porcelain jewellery in 2017. I now work in porcelain, silver and copper clay, inspired by and sometimes involving nature. All my pieces are individual and I take commissions. I live in Frome with my family and enjoy working as an Independent Advocate with vulnerable people.

Katherine Trevallion

I’m creative person, and have alot of thanks for my daughter for keeping me settled in Frome, and enriching my life.
Artistically I’m enjoying working in silver again, we will see where this goes..!

Stephanie Wehowski

Born in the city of Luebeck, Germany I arrived in London in 1996, and now live in Frome with my 6 year old daughter. I worked as a stonemason before I went on to study Fine Arts. I am very interested in healing practices and am currently expanding my horizons into herbal medicine. Motherhood is such a major rites of passage, and it has opened my engagement with the female body on a grander scale.

But what I am generally concerned with in my art practice is perception, the human experience, and consciousness. I try to put my intuitive presentiments and philosophical observations into a sensory experience. As far as this is possible.
